Memorial to Iowa-born Captain Thomas Neil Montag, pilot of the 395th Fighter Squadron, 368th Fighter Group, who crashed here on August 14, 1944, his P-47 strafing a German fuel truck and hitting the treetops.
Thomas Neil Montag rests today in the Saint-James American Military Cemetery Plot E Row 17 Grave 11.
