On August 21, 1944 at 10 pm two German troops take the village in reprisalson suspicion of a "terrorist village": some 30 Feldgendarmes from Beaune and 80 soldiers from a train parked between Prissey and the village.

The gates were broken down, 8 people were killed, 9 men were deported. The toll would have been even higher had the vines not offered refuge to the inhabitants who managed to flee.

52 houses burnt down, including the church.
