Cauquigny Peace Chapel

When the men of Lieutenant Colonel Timmes, some paratroopers of the 508 PIR of the 82nd Airborne arrive on the outskirts of the Cauquigny chapel on the morning of June 6, 1944, they are surprised by the quietness of the place. The men settled down in the cemetery. By mid-afternoon, the Germans had retaken Cauquigny with men and armor. The fighting was fierce, and the American paratroopers were forced to retreat to the Fière. This pretty chapel features a stained-glass window made in the USA in memory of the men of the 82nd Airborne division.
