Gatteville Battery

Battery with 6 pieces of 15.5 cm K420(f), 4 of which in R679 casemates and 2 in tanks. Structures set back from the cape of Barfleur in North Cotentin. Gatteville is protected by 3 anti-aircraft 20 mm guns and features various bunkers serving as ammunition bunkers, personnel shelters, machine gun tobrouks, trench network etc.... On June 18, 1944 the occupying forces sabotaged the guns and retreated to Cherbourg in the face of the Allied advance.
