Erika II radio station

Erika was a navigation system that had already reached the development stage in 1942, but its operational employment was short-lived and it was soon abandoned in favor of the Bernhard system.

Erika was based on the principle of a VHF (30-33 MHz) from a beam oscillating rapidly over a segment of about 60 to 90°.

A disadvantage of the Erika was the vulnerability to interference, with interference signals altering the phase and thus giving inaccurate readings. Another drawback, mainly due to the four receivers, which were particularly heavy, made its widespread use impractical in small aircraft.
