From this port, on June 19, 1940 a young Roscovite. Théo Gillet, left France at the helm of the Lithuanian tuna boat "Baltoji Lelija" to reach England taking with him a group of companions refusing defeat.
Lest we forget.
Théodore Gillet joined the fusillers marins at the age of 20, took part in the battle of Bir-Hakeim and survived the war. He died in 1993.
