Henri Kerizit stele and victims of August 5, 1944

Stèle in tribute to the victims of the 5 aout 1944 and to résistant Henri Kerizitwho died in combat here on August 4, 1944.
As the Germans move towards Châteaulin, they will burn the house of famille Maguet, shoot near here Pierre ParlierJean GuéguenJean Maguet Père and Jean Maguet Fils.
Karvaziou the Madec farm is also set on fire, Germain Madec and his two sons are shot dead (aged 16 and 23), their bodies thrown into the flames.
Pierre Scotet shot in his farmhouse, his wife and daughter will be locked in the burning house, fortunately freed later...
That same day the American tanks enter Chateauneuf-du-Faou welcomed by a jubilant crowd.

On August 6 the maquis of  Plonévez-du-Faou attacks the Germans retreating towards Crozon, killing an officer and some soldiers, in retaliation they set fire Penhoa-Broëz , Louis Fouquat is shot dead along with Francis Hétès (15 years old), then Jaques Sata is thrown into a building on fire...
