Abbé Cadiou

From here departed Abbé Cadiou, parish priest of Chateauneuf-du-Faou, shot by the Germans on August 6, 1944.
On the night of Sunday August 06, 1944, abbé Cadiou was caught in otage by German soldiers on their way to Chateaulin. Wanting to take advantage of the darkness, the reckless abbot escapes around an alleyway, but is seriously wounded by German machine-gun bullets.
Vigorously sought by the soldiers, he hides and manages to escape from them. Taken in by parishioners, he died the next day in Briec hospital.
