Stele of the 3 US soldiers

Stele in memory of the three American soldiers killed in action at this location on August 8, 1944 while on patrol in an M8 light armored vehicle. As they headed towards Lonlay-l'Abbaye the armored vehicle was targeted by an ambushed German gun. Three soldiers lost their lives, M.Swonger the only survivor to survive the war and return to France to locate this site and pay tribute to his comrades.
