National Resistance Monument

The Plateau des Glières National Monument to the Resistance pays tribute to the Glières maquis. Located on the Plateau des Glières in the Bornes mountains of Haute-Savoie, and created by the Secret Army on January 31, 1944, the Maquis des Glières was commanded by ex-officer Tom Morel and led by former members of the 27th Alpine Hunter Battalion from Annecy. Surrounded and pursued by the Milice and the Wehrmacht, the maquis no longer existed on March 26, 1944. Photo Credit Lucie administrator of the "La Seconde Guerre Mondiale" group.
