Marie Luce Moquet

Plaque in honor of a major Resistance figure, Marie Luce Moquet. From June 1940, she helped all those fleeing the occupied zone, organizing escapes and sheltering escapees, STO draft dodgers, maquisards, parachutists and BOA agents in her home, Le Manoir de la Chausée in Langon (behind the monument). She was involved in a number of actions during the war, including setting up a Resistance network in the Langon area. Arrested on August 6, 1944, she narrowly escaped execution. She received a certificate of gratitude and congratulations from the Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Forces, as well as a certificate of thanks from General Eisenhower.
