Irvillac August 16, 1944

At dawn on August 16, 1944 a German column from Brest arrived at Irvillac with an American prize of war (a half-track) at the head of the convoy to fool the Resistance. Their objective is to free German soldiers taken prisoner by the FFI.
On the way back, at the village of Le Tréhou a combat breaks out between Germans and resistance fighters, the soldiers have hostages taken from Braspart on board a truck. 5 resistance fighters will be killed.
The convoy continues on its way to Irvillac, where it is reported by a farmer to the village resistance fighters, who decide to set up an ambush in the area, killing 18 members of the resistance.
