FAFL landing stage

on June 18, 1940, responding to the call of General De Gaulle, the 115 students of the Le Mans and Vannes Pilotage schools embarked for England on the langoustier "Le Trébouliste", captained by François Lelguen.
They formed the backbone of the units of the Forces Aériennes Françaises Libres and 35 of them went missing on the Champ d'Honneur.
Lieutenant Pinot commanded them in an exemplary fashion under difficult conditions.
He was made a Compagnon de la Libération for the eminent services he rendered.
