Crash site B25 Mitchell Lorraine group

Exact spot where the B25 Mitchell crashed. Isolated spot in the middle of the woods, an explanatory panel, and a stele on which walkers have deposited parts and pieces of the plane as a sign of respect.

OnJuly 30, 1944 at 00:15, a B 25 Mitchell night bomber, from the Lorraine Group, flew over the Valcongrain-Hamars forest.

It is shot down by the German DCA as it passes over Hamars heading south.

The plane, in flames, crashes against the hillside.

In the explosion of the plane, the four crewmen perish.
