HMCS Athabaskan stele

Stele text: On April 29, 1944, the Canadian destroyer HMCS Athabaskan was torpedoed off this coast during a naval battle. Of the 261 Allied sailors, 128 died for the liberation of France and the return to peace. 91 have since been laid to rest in Brittany. 9 are buried in Brignogan. "In their memory, let us remember that peace and freedom can never be taken for granted".
