Stele of the 14 shootings
On August 6, 1944, while the German army was in full rout and harassed by the Resistance, notably not far from here at the Pont-Neuf crossing where violent fighting between the Resistance and the German army took place. In revenge, the Nazis killed 14 innocent people aged 17 to 71 against a school wall in the village of Quimerch.
