Hercules Buckmaster Monument

Monument on the left-hand side in tribute to the Hercule Buckmaster network ( André Dubois ) and on the right-hand side in tribute to the Sacristain Buckmaster network ( Floege). Alfred Auduc, was taken prisoner by the Germans as a soldier in the 6th Angers Engineers. Witnessing a Nazi massacre, he escaped, and returned to his home region of Le Mans. In 1943, he met André Dubois (Hercule), who wanted to set up a network in the Sarthe region. On 02/11/1943, Alfred and Renée Auduc were arrested and deported. The rest of the network was arrested at Cérans-Foulletourte on 11/11/1943. Jean-Jacques Auduc, the youngest member of the Sarthe Resistance, was 10 years old in 1943 and the only survivor of the Buckmaster network. He passed away in August 2017 at the age of 86. Near the monument, a milestone of the "voie de la liberté".
