B-17 Fortress Lakanuki Crash
Monument in memory of the American crew of the B-17 Fortress "Lakanuki" of the 384th Bombardment Group, 545th bomb squadron, 8th US Air Force Army, shot down by a German Focke- wulf 190 on July 4, 1943 at Grand Breil.

★T/Sgt James Lynn LaRue, mechanic, age 28, rests in the USA.
★Sgt Kenneth Eldon Christensen, machine gunner, lies in Colleville-sur-Mer plot I, row 27, grave 14.
★S/Sgt Floyd C Jr Hubble, machine gunner, lies in Colleville-sur-Mer cemetery plot I, row 27, grave 28.
★Sgt James Thomas Carter, machine-gunner, rests in the USA.
The sole surviving
★S/Sgt David L Butcher machine-gunner (will be able to reach England thanks to the Resistance).
