Louis Allenou House
Home of Louis Allenou, born on November 28, 1913 and died on May 03, 1945, a martyr of the Resistance. Quoted in the F.M.D.'s "Livre Mémorial des Déportés de France". Tome 2 p 1283 - Resistance fighter - On May 18, 1944, following a tip-off, the Gestapo surrounded his house at 1:30 pm - He was arrested with his machine operator Roger MELSCOËT - They were violently interrogated, then imprisoned the same day in the German section of the Saint-Brieuc prison (22) - They were transferred the next day to Camp Margueritte in Rennes (35), where the machine operator was finally freed - Louis ALLENOU was sent to Frontstalag 122 in Royallieu-Compiègne (60) - Deported on the convoy of July 28, 1944 (1.652 men) to K.L. Neuengamme (Germany), arriving on July 31 - Prisoner number 40.182 - Assigned to the Bremen-Osterort Kommando (construction of a submarine bunker in the Kriegsmarine base at the port) - Evacuated in April following the arrival of the Soviets to the central Neuengamme camp, then to the Sanbostel camp - Transported by train to the port of Lübeck - From April 19, the Nazis put several thousand deportees on board 4 ships: the liners Cap-Arcona and Deutschland IV (the latter not being loaded in the end), the freighters Thielbek and Athen - They planned to sink them with submarines - On May 3, the British approached Lübeck and one of their observation planes came under fire from the S.S. fire from the liner Cap Arcona - At 2:30 p.m., the Royal Air Force (R.A.F.) bombs the ships in the port, unaware that some of them are full of deportees - Two of these are sunk (the liner Cap Arcona and the freighter Thielbek).
