Jean Raby

In this place on July 6, 1944, Jean Raby, 21, Resistant FFI, was executed by the Germans following his arrest on July 3, 1944 in Locminé following a raffle conducted by the Germansand the French militia.

Panel text: This space was set up In memory of Jean Raby Resistance fighter in 1942, Born in Quimper on January 4, 1923 he came into hiding with his grandparents in Locminé Where he joined the FFI, within the 17th company of the 1st FFI battalion (AS) of Morbihan. Arrested during the Locminé roundup on July 3, 1944, he was taken to the public school with 32 of his comrades to be interrogatedand tortured by the Germans. Jean was then taken to the field behind this stele, where he was executed by German barbarism on July 6, 1944, at the age of 21. He died a hero so that we can live today in a free France, let us not forget.
