It was at this spot,on the Pont Alexandre III, that Jean Laferrière (21 years old), Pierre Lihoux (18 years old) and Maurice Pelloie (21 years old) ,members of the Lorris maquis, fell to German bullets on August 25, 1944 during the fighting for the liberation of Paris, as they had followed the soldiers of General Leclerc's 2nd Armored Division.
