General Welvert

He joined the VIth Army with the rank of brigadier general on September 9, 1939 and finally divisional general on August 20, 1941.
From November 15, 1942 to March 10, 1943, he commanded the 3rd Algerian infantry division in Constantine during the Tunisian campaign with the armed forces of the United States. He captured Tébessa, then Gafsa, Sbeitla and Faïd.
In January 1943, he came under the command of the US 12th Corps. In February 1943, his division was encircled at Dernaia.
He died in his service car, victim of an anti-tank mine, on April 10, 1943, near Koudiat-el-Bahli4, north of Haffouz, in Djebel Ousselat.

His body lies at the Sigolsheim national necropolis.
