Le Dézert

Head of the 39th Infantry Regiment, Colonel Harry A. Flint defeated the German counterattack launched by the Panzer Lehr Division on July 10 in the commune of "le Dézert". After bitter fighting, victory came on July 12 with the definitive capture of the village. On July 24, Colonel Harry A. Flint died as a result of wounds sustained the previous day from sniper fire in the village itself.
