The Saint-Rémy-du-Plain shootings

On July 7, 1944, a dozen French militiamen from the Bezen Perrot, dressed in German uniforms, take prisoner some twenty resistance fighters from the maquis de Broualan. The convoy, made up of coaches and vehicles, stops about 1.5 km from Saint-Rémy-du-Plain. Eight men were selected to "lighten the vehicles". Taken to the edge of the hole in the carrière de Touchasse, they were executed with machine-gun fire. After receiving the coup de grâce, their bodies are pushed to the bottom of the quarry
