Fighting at La Maladière

Combats de la Maladière
On August 22, 1944, troops reconstituted after the combats du Vercors, the 11th Cuirassier, aided by the compagnie DANIEL, then the FTPF at the end of the day, liberated the towns of Romans and Bourg de Péage. They set up checkpoints at the entrances to these towns. Valence and the Rhône valley remained under German control.
On August 27, 1944, to protect the eastern flank of their evacuation, the Germans retake Romans via the Tain road, and Bourg de Péage via the Valence and Bésayes roads. The Germans left the towns on August 30, without reprisals.
