Underground PC

Command post of the German General von Schlieben, commander of the Cherbourg fortress. This HQ, located in the Saint-Sauveur quarry, comprised 4 parallel tunnels linked by lateral galleries, and housed the entire command infrastructure. Power for the complex was supplied by generators. A tunnel linked the complex to the Château Maurice, a hundred meters away on Rue Alfred Lohen, where the officers were housed. In the château grounds, a bunker was converted into a chapel. Today, the underground network still exists and is in a good state of preservation. For safety reasons, the entrances are closed.
