Menez Hom

Observation and defense post. 1st German defense line on the Crozon peninsula. Some light barracks and a FuSan radar. From August 17 to 26, 1944, the first line of defense was attacked by the F.F.I. (Forces Françaises de l'Intérieur), who tried to gain the heights, in particular the Menez-Hom stronghold, without much success. At the beginning of September, American Task Force "A" advanced to the entrance of the peninsula and managed to clear coast 330 (Menez-Hom) without too many casualties, as the Germans withdrew to the second line of defense towards Crozon. A few remnants of the old fortifications remain, and on a clear day, the view of the peninsula is magnificent.
