Gestapo headquarters Lyon

During the Second World War, this hotel was the headquarters of the Gestapo in Lyon.
Nazi Germany's law enforcement services (Gestapo and Sicherdienst) were first headed by Fritz Hollert, then by Werner Rolf Mülher and finally, from summer 1943 by SS Obersturmbannführer Werner Knab.
The Gestapoin itself is headed by its subordinate SS Hauptsturmführer Klaus Barbie, responsible for the fight against enemies of the state, and the SD, for its part, is commanded by August Moritz. These services employed around two hundred people, including French nationals.
