Gestapo Pontivy

The Charles Langlais college was requisitioned by the Sipo-SD during the occupationto make it the headquarters of the gestapo of Pontivy, a German prison where torturesof Resistance fighters and Special Air Service paratroopers took place in its basements.

This school, originally a girls' college, was occupied by the Nazisduring the World War II. In its basements existed cells where Resistance fighters, paratroopers, Allied soldiers suffered, died for our freedom. These painful memories invite us to a grateful thought.
