In this location, on Thursday, July 27, 1944 , the maquisard campwas attacked by 360 soldiers of the Wehrmacht under the command of Captain Holtz. During the confrontation, the enemy suffered severe losses with 18 dead and 80 wounded. As soon as the alarm was sounded to avoid encirclement and allow the resistance fighters of the maquis to withdraw, capitaine Massardier engaged in combat with a few members of the French Forces de l'intérieur , including Louis Cadoret, a veteran of the First World War .

Louis Cadoret was taken prisoner and taken to the Pontivy girls' high school, as was André Le Clainche, arrested in the afternoon.
They would be interrogated then tortured before being driven back to the scene to be executed.
