Isère Museum of Resistance and Deportation

The Musée de la Résistance et de la Déportationde l'Isère is a departmental museum created in 1966 and located in Grenoble, France. Initiated by Resistance fighters, deportees and teachers, and designed with education and transmission in mind, it is a museum of history and society.

Built around local events during the World War II, its resolutely modern museography solicits emotion as well as reflection, and restores in their chronology, the causes and consequences of the conflict, in order to understand how and from what individual choices the Resistance was born. It highlights the scale of the suffering and sacrifice of those who committed themselves to enable the return of the Republic and its values.
