The musée du 5 juin 1944 "Message Verlaine" is a historical museum, founded in 1991 in Tourcoing, in the department of Nord. It is housed in a former casemate that housed a German staff during the World War II. It was there that, on June 5, 1944, the Germans captured the first stanza of Paul Verlaine's poem Chanson d'automne broadcast by Radio Londres on BBC at 9:15 pm announcing to resistance fighters the imminence of the Normandy landings onJune 6, 1944: "The long sobs of autumn violins wound my heart with a monotonous languor....".
Tours are conducted with volunteer guides, who bring this place of remembrance to life.
