La Boisserie

In 1934, Major de Gaulle and his wife acquired a residence - La Boisserie - in the small village of Colombey-les-Deux-Églises. It was here that the General took refuge from his "desert crossing" and wrote his war memoirs. When he became President of the Fifth Republic, he moved to the Élysée Palace, but returned regularly to spend weekends there. After leaving office, he moved there permanently, and died there on November 9, 1970. Source:www.charles-de-gaulle.org
