Memorial crash C-47 Pleuven

On August 11, 1943, a C-47 belonging to the 1st Troop Carrier Command, 433rd Troop Carrier Group crashed here, its mission being to ferry the aircraft to North Africa for use by the 12th US Air Force. Flavien Marzin rescued the pilot Cecil Bell and treasured his jacket, which he returned 50 years later to the pilot's children, who came specially from Houston, Texas
