Major Jack Watson Memorial

Memorial to Major John Watson was born in Scarborough, North Yorkshire , on January 14, 1917.
 He enlisted in the British Army in 1939 during the Second World War and served, initially in the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry and the South Lancashire Regiment. A platoon commander on D-Day , and parachuting into Normandy he took part in the liberation of Ranville.
He also served in the Ardennes as a company commander and led the assault on the village of Bure on January 3, 1945.
 He died on April 12, 2011.
