Plaque text

"For seven hours: I was put to physical and moral torture. I know that today I have gone to the limit of resistance. I also know that tomorrow, if it happens again, I'll end up signing."(...) And yet,(...) I cannot be complicit in this monstrous machination. (...) I cannot sanction this outrage against the French Army and dishonor myself," (...)
I know that the only human being who could still hold me to account, my mother, (...) will forgive me when she knows that I did this so that French soldiers could not be called criminals and so that she, herself, would not have to be ashamed of her son.
