Jean Gayvallet

Memorial in honor of Jean Gayvallet 18 years old and Louis Picard 23 years old.
During an ambush set up for the Germans who were reinforcing their advance towards Normandy, a group of around thirty men, including a US commando opened fire on a German convoy. The battle is fierce, with Louis Picard killed in action and Jean Gayvallet wounded and hiding in a bush. The group dismounts after inflicting heavy losses on the Germans, but leaving Jean Gayvallet on the spot.
The Germans interrogate the wounded man before torturing him by breaking his limbs with crossbows, inflicting bayonet wounds before shooting him no less than 5 times in the head.
