Denneville battles

It was here, on June 18, 1940, that a group of soldiers from the 208th R.I. and marine fusiliers from the 205th C.M.P. under the command of Lieutenant Jacquin and E.D.V. Allary, in a heroic battle, destroyed several enemy armored vehicles, enabling many Allied soldiers to reach England.

Three were killed. The previous evening, a vehicle carrying British R.A. soldiers had blown up on a mine, killing eight.
