Crash B-17F N°42-29887 Mehitabel:

On June 28, 1943, the mission assigned to the Boeing B-17F N°42-29887 Mehitabel was to bomb Saint-Nazaire. Confronted by German fighters comprising Me-109 and FW-190, hit by a shell, the aircraft is forced to turn back. With both engines hit, the crew is forced to abandon the plane byparachuting. They arrive on Belle-Ile. Hidden by the local population, they are soon discoveredand enclosed in the fortress.
