Fighting at Marssac
Here on August 17, 1944 on the orders of the chef départemental F.F.L 40 maquisards of the groupe Vendôme set up an embuscade against a 300-strong German column coming from Toulouse to halt the liberation of Carmaux , 15 maquisards fell in this cruel battle of unequal forces and the column, thus delayed and dismantled was unable to reach its objective.
