Canot Saint-Yves
The chapel on Île Callot in Carentec houses a plaque paying tribute to the canot Saint-Yves and its occupants.
Plaque text:
This statue was donated to Notre-Dame de Callot in 1947, following a vow.
During the night of June 7, 1943, some twenty young people embark aboard the Saint Yves, a small 11m hourglass. They make their way ashore to go and fight for the liberation of France.
Repelled by a convoy of the German navy, they then vow, in the event of a successful outcome to their escape, to offer a statue of Saint Yves to Notre Dame de Callot.
They will arrive safe and sound the next day in Fowey
