Natzweiler-Struthof concentration camp

On May 1, 1941, the Nazis opened the KL*-Natzweiler concentration camp at a place known as "Struthof". The central camp, the only concentration camp on French territory, was located in what was then annexed Alsace. Its network of annex camps, on both sides of the Rhine, comprised some 70 camps of varying sizes. Of the 52,000 KL-Na deportees, around 35,000 never made it through the central camp.
