Marcel Stenne was the Curé of Stoumontin the province of Liège. In charge of the Episcopal children's colony in Stoumont: Au Grand Air. He housed, at the risk of his life, 14 Jewish children from Liège, Brussels and Antwerp from 1942 to the end of the war. He was helped in this task by his nephew, Abbé Emmanuel Schmitz.
In addition to his protégés, Abbé Stenne regularly welcomed for several weeks dozens of Jewish children in transit. He advised them to blend in and never reveal their Jewishness. Some of them served church services as cantors or enfants de cœur.
Abbé Stenne was recognized Juste parmi les nations by the Yad Vashem Institute.
