Kervernen - Kergant battles

It was here, in the early hours of July 14, 1944, that the Germans attacked the 5th FFI Battalion of Morbihan led by Jean Doré aka Commandant Jacques.
On July 14, 1944, Resistants belonging to three sections (90 men) of the 4th FTPF Company of Morbihan (now the 5th FFI Battalion of Morbihan), commanded by captain Bernard (Alphonse Le Cunff) are surrounded by German troops (300 soldiers) around the localities of Kervernen, Kergant and Kerhudé. The combatis particularly bloodyand during the fighting, 36 Resistance fighters are killed and 25 taken prisoner, imprisonedand tortured in Locminé in the basement of the girls' school before being executed for the most part in Colpo at a place called Botsegalo, where a stele has been erected in their memory.
On July 29, 1944, in reprisal, the Rodu farm was burnt down by the Germans.
