Bernhard Saint-Rivoal antenna

During the Second World War, the Germans installed a radio navigation guidance system for their bombers at the summit of the mountain. They used stones from the pilgrims' shelter and low wall built in the 19th century to construct the base of the radionavigation system, which explains why these constructions have disappeared.
The transmitter was a huge 25 × 25 m steel antenna. The remains of the circular line of the Bernhart 724/ 725 system, which weighed 120 tons and was 28 meters high and 35 meters wide, are still visible; the system was mounted on a 22-meter-diameter circular concrete rail, code name B8, and was coupled to teleprompters found on board Luftwaffe aircraft. The remains of this guidance system are clearly visible next to the chapel, a bunker square can still be seen on the right of the chapel, a little higher up, and a second bunker is on the left of the stingray.
