Bloody Gulch Memorial Museum

This site witnessed heavy fighting between June 12 and 27. From June 12 to 17, 1944, it served as a temporary HQ for the Germans (the SS of the 17th Panzergrenadierdivision and German paratroopers), then was even the scene of fighting during the Battle of Bloody Gulch during the German counter-attack on Carentan and the subsequent reaction of American troops. Hand-to-hand combat took place in the manor house, which still bears the traces on its floors.
