War and Peace Museum in the Ardennes

Located in Novion-Porcien, the Musée Guerre et Paix en Ardennes was created on the initiative of the Conseil Général des Ardennes and inaugurated in July 2003, then closed in 2008. It will finally reopen on January 23, 2018 in a refurbished building with a new museography. It features national and local military aspects of the wars of 1870, 1914-1918 and 1939-1945.

From the defeat of Imperial France at Sedan on September 2, 1870 to the German breakthrough of May 10, 1940, the Ardennes was at the heart of the three contemporary French-German wars. The museum presents the last three wars from 1870 to 1945, enriched by the evocation of the particular history of the Ardennes. It is a history museum where the human and material aspects are emphasized: the suffering of soldiers and civilians, the exodus of 1940, the Occupations of 1914-1918 and 1940-1944.
