Stele S/SGT. RALPH T. SNYDER
Stele in memory of S/SGT. RALPH T. SNYDER and his soldiers.
At this location on August 26, 1944, the battle group of S/SGT. RALPH T. SNYDER of the 115th Infantry Battalion, 29th US Division came under machine-gun fire from the Kerrognant support position.
While the section was cut off, it was impossible to come to the aid of the soldiers caught under fire, so S/SGT. RALPH T. SNYDER left his equipment and weapon to go to the aid of his comrades, equipped with a "Red Cross" armband on his arm.
Abattled by the German paratroopers, it was then impossible for the US soldiers to come to the aid of their wounded brothers-in-arms.
The bodies will be recovered by the US Army, 7 days later.
