Queen's Own Rifles of Canada plate
Plaque text
This house was liberated at dawn on D-Day, June 6, 1944 by the men of the Queen's Own Rifles of Canada. They were the first Canadians to land on this beach.
This was probably the first house liberated on French soil by Allied forces from the sea. In front of this house, more than 100 men of the Queen's Own Rifles were killed or wounded in the first minutes of the assault.
We will remember them.
