6th Airborne Division Monument

Tribute to the 6th Airborne Division , the 22nd Independent Parachute Company, 12nd Yorkshire Battalion and other units who fought hard for the liberation of Bréville-les-Monts on June 12, 1944.

In memory of the inhabitants of Bréville who died in 1944, and also in memory of the soldiers of the 12th Yorkshire Battalion Parachutists, the 12th Battalion Devonshire Regiment and other elements who attacked on the evening of June 12, 1944, starting from the positions of the 1st Brigade Commandos at Amfreville, to drive out the Germans. 162 soldiers of the Division sacrificed their lives. They lie buried in the Ranville military cemetery."
